Studio session with Broncolor Siros L 800 Ws

When Broncolor reached out to me and asked if I would like to test their lights I said "Where do I sign?" . I had brief previous experience of using the lights and I was really excited to put them to a full scaled studio shoot test.  Very soon after this beauties arrived.

I always want it to experiment with color gels and create something edgy young and energetic. My model was a young Russian music prodigy Sophie Fay. The goal was to create some promo materials for her album release. And I couldn't find better gear companion than 2 Broncolor Siros L 800 lights in combination with my beloved Fujifilm mirrorless cameras (X-pro 2 and XT-2).

As I mentioned I had very little experience with Broncolor before, mostly done with he help of their amazing stuff at one of the Fujifilm event that they hosted together with Broncolor.  But ease of setting the lights up and very intuitive user friendly interface made everything looked like I already knew what to do. And you can change the lights settings via your iOS or Android devices by using a special App. Which came very handy, between making adjustments on an iPad, the Siros itself and the Broncolor wireless transmitter  i was very pleased with how quickly setting changes synced across all 2 devices. The lights are completely wireless and using a battery that nicely placed in the body of the unit. Siros L 800 is a great for people who want to have pro studio lights with portability in mind. You can easily take them on location set them on the stand pop the batteries in and you are ready to shoot.

The units assembled by hand in Switzerland.  If you don't own any Broncolor equipment and want to start with something less expensive but with the same amount of quality and technology as their more expensive options, Siros L 800Ws is perfect for you. Color consistency and ease of use will give you a lot of fun and pleasing times shooting in studio or on location.

If you have more questions about my experience using the Siros L 800Ws feel free to reach out andris@andrisdzeguze.com I will be more than happy to answer them.

As a bonus here is a few phone shots of behind the scenes.

Special thank you goes to Broncolor USA for providing an opportunity to test their gear.

"We'll go to Coney and eat baloney on a roll" with Fujifilm GFX 50S

My May became the best month of 2017 when I received an exciting package from Fujifilm with their newest addition to the medium format game recently released GFX 50S. It combines outstanding resolution of 51.4 megapixels with exceptional tones, advanced color reproduction, weather sealing and high-performance lenses. I knew I would be able to carry this camera anywhere because it’s so light. This was so freeing. Never before were you able to have so much quality in such a compact body. I decided to take it for a spin to one of the most colorful and iconic destination in all of NY, Coney Island. Coney Island is a Brooklyn must-see that is the perfect juxtaposition of old and new.  This is the place that would play to the camera’s strengths so I could finally truly capture the Coney Island character. If you ever shot with a full frame DSLRs before, the size of GFX will be very familiar to your hands. The only difference is a medium format.

One more reason why I love Fujifilm X Series is the Film Simulation. My favorite being classic chrome. This feature is also available on GFX. The autofocus is fast enough even for you street photography lovers. Don’t take my word for it, try it immediately. Seriously. Once you try the GFX; you will also understand why GFX is the game changer for medium format cameras market.
